70mph is the law! For real efficiency and carbon savings we should all be sticking below 60mph.

If we look at the research* 70mph uses on average 15% less fuel per mile that 80mph. 60mph would use 29% less fuel that 80mph.

That equates to almost 2 tonnes of carbon saved if we all drive at 60 max.

Calculations also suggest that a top speed of 60mph would half the number of motorway deaths in the UK.
